Hello!

After spending my working years moving from administrative positions into data management positions and finally into the position as manager of a product support team with a small firm, I turned to my overall career goal of librarianship. I come from a varied background of education in music, English literature, and creative writing, and from work experience in the industries of financial institutions, real estate, and healthcare. These various positions and work environments have prepared me to take on the challenges of graduate school and to take my place among library professionals.

During the course of pursuing my degree, I have been invited to delve into the nooks and crannies of librarianship in all its splendor. I came into the study with the understanding of librarianship as a spectrum of occupations and expertise, but even that did not prepare me for the breadth of options available and the array of studies that would enrich my knowledge. With courses focusing on organizing systems and library management, this degree offers preparation for positions available at corporations, institutions, and in the government sector.

Looking into the near future, I find myself with multiple possibilities for my next position. My limitations are only geographic, restricted by the thirty-mile by forty-mile island on which I live. Universities, colleges, private school, public libraries, and numerous corporations abound in the City and County of Honolulu; locating an ideal position in the next few years will come with patience and persistence. With one semester remaining before the completion of this degree, I feel comfortable with where I fit in my new profession, as an advocate for information literacy and access to information for everyone.
